Construction Fleets Still Type Hours by Hand. HCSS Just Closed That Loop with Motive.

– SeaPRwire – Contractors still key engine hours and odometer readings into their systems by hand. The work is slow. It is easy to get wrong. That friction sits at the center of every mixed fleet operation that runs trucks and heavy machines side by side. HCSS is now connecting its Fleet product to Motive to cut the manual step out.

The integration pulls vehicle and asset data from Motive straight into HCSS Fleet. Hours, miles, and fuel usage arrive automatically. Motive-equipped vehicles and assets show up on the same map as OEM-connected and HCSS-tracked equipment. Teams get one unified view. Shops receive fresher usage data. They can tailor service to actual machine use and flag assets that need attention sooner. Operations leaders see where equipment sits and whether it is available for work. Fleet managers gain a more consistent source for reviewing activity, maintenance needs, and trends.

Phil Robinson, Group Product Manager for HCSS Fleet, put it plainly. The integration brings critical vehicle and equipment data into HCSS Fleet. Teams get accurate hours, miles, and preventive maintenance triggers without the manual work. The point is improved job costing and turning connected assets into better decisions. Jeet Chitgopker, Senior Director of Partner and Ecosystem Engineering at Motive, added the complementary view. Contractors run on equipment. Motive supplies accurate, real-time data on every asset. Connected to HCSS Fleet, that data reaches the teams making maintenance and utilization decisions. Automatic hours, miles, and preventive maintenance triggers help keep machines working and jobs on schedule.

The integration is available to all HCSS Fleet customers. Users start it through the OEM Providers tab in HCSS Fleet Telematics or through the HCSS tile on Motive’s App Marketplace. HCSS has served heavy civil and infrastructure contractors since 1986. Its platform spans HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and HCSS Fleet. The company positions the suite as a way to centralize data across office, field, and shop. Motive serves nearly 100,000 customers across transportation, logistics, construction, and other physical-economy industries. It offers a single system for workers, vehicles, equipment, and related spend.

The practical effect is tighter data flow between the two platforms. Manual entry disappears for Motive-equipped assets. The single map removes the need to switch systems when checking mixed fleets. Timelier usage numbers support earlier maintenance calls and clearer utilization pictures. Job costing gains accuracy when hours and miles arrive without transcription errors. Those are the direct outcomes the companies state.

Any contractor running a mixed fleet should open the OEM Providers tab this week and test the connection on a subset of assets. Measure the drop in manual entry time and the change in maintenance trigger accuracy. That is the only way to know whether the integration delivers the cleaner decisions both sides claim.
